Moshi - Kilimanjaro City Mini Guide

Moshi is a small and lively town located on the scenic lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in northern Tanzania. The friendly town of Moshi is popular as a base for trekking up Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. Moshi, the coffee-producing centre of Tanzania, is also close to the famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park and Arusha National Park.

Moshi Attractions

This bustling, yet peaceful town is a pleasant and colourful place to explore on foot, visiting local markets and shops that sell fresh produce, curios and all kinds of interesting things. The main reason for visiting Moshi is of course to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano. Attractions in Moshi include the seasonal coffee auctions, where international buyers bid for wholesale coffee. The coffee-roasting factory in Moshi is also worth visiting to learn about coffee production and enjoy the sweet aromas.

Ruaha National Park

Ruaha National Park is a national park in Tanzania. The addition of the Usangu
Reserve and wetlands to the park increased its size to about 20,226 km².

Gagilonga Rock

This large rock northeast of town is where Chief Mkwawa meditated and where he learned that the Germans were after him.

C. Wealth grave yard

Iringa Cemetery is a plot with 131 Commonwealth war graves from World War I and one from World War II. There are also 16 German war graves.

Isimila Stone age

In the late 1950s, amid a dramatic landscape of eroded sandstone pillars, archaeologists unearthed one of the most significant Stone Age.

Kalenga Village & Museum

At Kalenga, you may be able to see Chief Mkwawa’s skull which was finally returned by the Germans in 1954 of the the 1919 Treaty.

Igeleke Rock Art

A large prehistoric frieze, similar in style to the Kondoa rock paintings, located at a spectacular site on the edge of town just west of the Dodoma road.

If you have booked a transfer and recieved an email confirmation, the driver will wait for you at the airport or ferry port, hotel or any other station with the name board showing your name at the international arrivals inside the airport terminal, or, at the head of the platform if a ferry terminal or at the hotel reception desk. If you are unable to locate the driver, please wait at the information desk/office. If you have booked a taxi transfer, and the driver has informed you about traffic problems via phone you should always go to the information desk or office to wait for your driver.

A one-way price will include a single journey from your arrival point to your destination. A return price (round trip; both ways trip) includes the departure transfer to the starting point as well. The price includes additional motorway toll if agreed upon booking confirmation and additional luggages. The price DOES NOT INCLUDE any additional stops, provisional shopping or any sightseeing points that can significantly prolongue the entire travel time.

The transfer prices are always per vehicle and not per person, and the type of vehicle is determined by the number of passengers. Whether you need a minibus, a minivan/shuttle or a regular taxi cab for your transportation needs.

We always check the arrival times. The driver will wait for all flights and ferry journeys that are delayed and your transfer is provided without any additional charges. We will at all times be informed about your flight details and will collect you at the new time.

Children until 12 years are not allowed to travel without their parents. Children between 12-18 years must have an authorized statement from their parents. If your transfer requires a child seat, please notify us on time.
